Rain jacket from LightHeart Gear from North Carolina!
This rain jacket is the company's flagship product! Its greatest feature is its exceptional breathability, achieved by sacrificing breathability. You can even wear it as a rain vest with your arms exposed. Furthermore, the surface is treated with silicone coating rather than the typical DWR (durable water repellent) finish. This means it's highly resistant to deterioration and requires no maintenance, such as reapplication of water repellent.
Size: 170cm 65kg male wearing size M
When wearing a short-sleeved top underneath, the S size is the best and I like the length and silhouette, but since the fabric is not stretchy, I think the M size would be the best choice for layering when it's colder as it allows for easier movement.
[Quote from manufacturer]
Staying dry while hiking is no easy challenge.
This is because you will end up either getting wet from the outside in the rain or from sweat inside.
Current waterproof/breathable jackets (such as Gore-Tex) are truly innovative technologies, but while they work well in the lab, they often fail in the field. Dirt and dust on the trail clog the many pores in the outer fabric, backpacks and straps cover a large portion of the jacket's surface area, and raindrops cover most of the remaining surface area of the jacket. This impedes the breathable movement of water vapor from the inside, resulting in a stuffy interior.
Additionally, these "waterproof and breathable" products require a DWR (durable water repellent) coating, which can deteriorate or wash away over time and use and must be periodically washed or reapplied to restore water repellency. Furthermore, most of these DWR coatings contain PFAS (often referred to as "forever chemicals"), which can contaminate groundwater. And if not properly maintained, they often become wet over time.
LightHeart Gear's ultra-lightweight, PFAS-free rain jacket is made from permanently waterproof polyester with a silicone coating on the outside and a polyurethane coating on the inside, making it intentionally non-breathable. All seams are taped, and the oversized pit zips are waterproof. The generous pit zips ensure ventilation when needed, and the jacket can also be worn as a vest with arms tucked away, while the roomy hood accommodates a hat or cap.

[Manufacturer description]
LightHeart Gear is a family-run garage brand based in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina. Their rain jackets are a huge hit in their home country of the United States. Because they manufacture their products in their own factory, they were able to accommodate sizes (XS and S) that aren't usually stocked in the United States.
