This 5L DCF pouch is perfect for organizing cookware and small items. Its gusset allows for optimal thickness depending on the amount of luggage you have, making it very smart. It also comes with a handle, which is great for pulling it out from the back of your backpack, using it as a handle, or hanging it down. It's surprisingly convenient since most pouches don't have handles!

What to look for in a stuff sack

Stuff sacks are made from a variety of materials, but the most common is Silnylon. When I first started hiking, I mainly used Silnylon stuff sacks because they were simple, lightweight, and readily available.

However, as I continued to use it, I gradually began to feel something was wrong. Silnylon is slippery and often moves to unintended places in my backpack. Even if I packed it carefully, I would suddenly realize that my belongings had shifted position, making it difficult to quickly find what I wanted. Especially when taking a break on an incline, the stuff sack itself would sometimes roll away. After repeated experiences like this, I gradually began to use Silnylon items less and less.

It was during this time that I came across a stuff sack made from Dyneema® Composite Fabric. I tried making one myself and found it to be even better than I expected. First of all, it's less slippery than Silnylon, which is a major plus, as it provides more stability when packing. It stays in place less inside the backpack, making it much easier to organize your belongings. Another big plus is that it's incredibly strong and durable, yet lightweight, so you can use it for a long time.

The zipper is made with YKK AquaGuard®, which has a polyurethane laminate on the zipper surface, making it highly waterproof.

It is designed to be very water resistant, but is not completely waterproof.

If you have tools that you absolutely do not want to get wet, use a Ziploc bag or similar as an inner bag.

The material used is "Dyneema® CT5K.18/wov.32c".

This material is made of a 50 denier polyester woven fabric on the surface, a 0°/90° UHMWPE (*1) fiber middle layer, and a polyester film on the back. It is a lightweight yet extremely durable and waterproof material (water pressure resistance of over 20,000mm). The hybrid lamination with polyester woven fabric makes it a sturdy material with excellent tear and puncture strength.

Another feature of this material is that its appearance changes the more it is used. At first, it has a crisp texture, but as time passes, it wrinkles more and becomes softer overall. As it shrinks slightly, the zipper develops a wavy texture, the creases in the gusset disappear, and the corners become rounded. This change that comes with aging gives the feeling that it is more than just a tool, but has grown into "your own gear." Of course, even after the change, it maintains its strength, and as it becomes more familiar, it becomes even easier to use, which is another great attraction.

The longer you use it, the more it will fit comfortably in your hand and develop a richer expression. I think the biggest appeal of this stuff sack is not just its practicality, but also the joy of growing it into a beloved tool.
