An experience in the mountains in the bitter cold inspired me to create this neck gaiter.

When walking along a cold mountain path covered in frost early in the morning, even though my body was protected by gloves and a jacket, my neck was still exposed to the cold wind and I couldn't keep out the cold no matter what. At times like that, I strongly felt that I wanted gear that would protect my neck more comfortably and effectively.

The result was a grid-structured fabric made from 100% New Zealand merino wool. This material is both warm and breathable, providing natural warmth while preventing sweat and stuffiness. As the name "long neck gaiter" suggests, it features a longer design. Its design, which covers the nose without causing any stress and does not restrict neck movement, is designed for activities in cold climates.

The biggest feature of the "Long Neck Gaiter" is that, as its name suggests, it is designed to be longer than a regular neck gaiter. This length allows it to securely cover your nose and mouth, keeping out cold air while still allowing for easy breathing. It wraps around your entire neck, shutting out drafts and providing warmth. The main characteristics of merino wool include excellent heat retention, good breathability, moisture control, high odor resistance (antibacterial properties), heat resistance, and UV protection.

REDA, the company that produces the merino wool jersey used by RIDGE MOUNTAIN GEAR, is a long-established wool fabric manufacturer founded in Italy over 150 years ago.

The sheep are raised in a relaxed environment on REDA's vast farm in New Zealand.

This time, the Grid Merino Long Neck Gaiter is made using a very delicate 17.5μm (micrometer) yarn called "Super 120's", which gives it a soft texture with very little of the "itchy feeling" that is typical of wool.

The outer side is made of jersey fabric, while the inner side is brushed to a fleece-like texture, allowing it to trap a lot of warm air. Furthermore, the knitted fabric is in a grid pattern, allowing moisture to pass through the gaps in the grid efficiently. This highly functional material offers excellent heat retention and breathability.

The use of New Zealand Merino wool is proof that the wool is "non-mulesing wool." "Mulesing" refers to the removal of the skin and flesh from the rump of a lamb to prevent the sheep from becoming infested with maggots.

- When washing, use detergent for wool.

- Turn the product inside out, place it in a laundry net and wash it alone.

- Water temperature should be limited to 40°C, and washing with hot water should be avoided.

- Avoid strong water currents when washing, and wash by hand or, if using a washing machine, use the "dry cycle" or "weak cycle."
