[Quote from manufacturer]
The "Travel Pouch Plus," launched in 2015, is RIDGE MOUNTAIN GEAR's oldest product. Its origins are embodied in the spirit of MYOG (Make Your Own Gear), and it was created through trial and error using a sewing machine on a small table in the apartment I lived in at the time. The simple design, based on the belief of "no waste," has the bare necessities, yet is appealing in that its uses can be expanded infinitely depending on the user's ingenuity.
When it was first released, it was called the "Travel Pouch" and was an item designed specifically for a pouch, with no loops for attaching straps. However, at an event, we received feedback from a user saying, "If there was a loop for attaching a strap, it could be used as a sacoche bag..." We made improvements based on that feedback. Thus, the "Travel Pouch" was reborn as the current "Travel Pouch Plus," evolving into an even more versatile item.
【material】
Since its launch in 2015, the bag has consistently used Dyneema® CT5K.18/wov.32c as its material. This lightweight and durable material was selected after testing a variety of fabrics, and supports the product's longevity and reliability. The simple, single-compartment design eliminates unnecessary decoration and is designed to neatly store only what you need.
The "Travel Pouch Plus" is an item that each user can use freely and find their own way to use it. The story of this pouch dates back to 2015, when a person was operating a sewing machine on a small table in an apartment. Please come and experience its history and the thoughts behind it.
Dyneema® Composite Fabric (DCF) may shrink depending on the environment and conditions of use. Shrinkage of a few percent has been reported, especially when used or stored in high temperature or humidity conditions. The specific shrinkage rate varies depending on the usage and environmental conditions, but is generally considered to be around 1 to 3%.
The "6-month used product" in the image above is a product that I attached a strap to and actually used every day.
Causes of shrinkage
Heat shrinkability: Dyneema® (UHMWPE) is heat-sensitive and begins to gradually shrink at temperatures above approximately 60°C. Therefore, if left in direct sunlight for a long period of time or exposed to heat, it is prone to shrinkage and deformation.
Internal Tension: Dyneema® composite fabrics are made up of multiple laminated layers, so over time and with stress during use, the internal tension can change, causing the entire fabric to shrink.
Water and humidity: DCF itself is highly water-repellent and does not absorb water, but after prolonged exposure to humidity or rain, slight shrinkage may occur as the fabric dries. This is due to the fabric readjusting its internal tension.
Measures to prevent shrinkage
Avoid exposure to high temperatures: Avoid placing the device in direct sunlight or in a hot place such as a car.
Correct storage method: After use, dry thoroughly and store by folding appropriately. If you store it by compressing it too much, the internal tension will be generated and it will be prone to shrinkage.
Care after use: If the product gets wet, dry it as soon as possible, as leaving it wet for a long time may cause shrinkage and deterioration.
[For Hiking]
When you go hiking, keeping your gear organized is crucial for your comfort. The Travel Pouch Plus was created to keep your gear organized and your essentials easily accessible.
It has a moderate capacity and is just the right size to store small items. In my case, when I go hiking in the high mountains in the summer, I store the items shown in the picture.
[For Short Trips]
Even when not hiking, I pack what I need to take with me depending on the situation.
For example, see the image to see what's inside the Travel Pouch Plus for short trips.
