What makes it 2-way is that 1) the bag can be folded and used. 2) the bag can be stretched out. The great thing about it is that you can use it in different ways depending on the contents. Also, when folded, you can access the contents directly through the zipper on the back, so you don't have to stretch it out every time. When stretched out, the top opening cannot be completely closed like a map sacoche, so this is an area where people may have mixed opinions.
