[Manager's comment]
It's no exaggeration to say that this crew-style Adrift is the most popular of STATIC's active insulation, the masterpiece Adrift. It's a fleece that can be used all year round. With a simple crew neck, it's lightweight and easy to layer. In spring and summer, you'll want to bring it with you as cold weather gear for mountain summits!
Active Insulation is a new generation of fleece that combines breathability and warmth. You can hike or climb hills wearing this fleece. While fleece is something you rarely put on or take off, the zipper that extends all the way to your stomach allows for direct ventilation. And of course, it's also easier to wear.
In any case, this is a warm garment that can be used all year round, whether in the Alps in midsummer or in the countryside in midwinter.
The outer material is resistant to wear, but vulnerable to snagging, so caution is advised not only when bushwhacking, but also in homes with cats!
Male: 170cm / 65kg, wearing size M (loose fit)
For thin base layers, size S is fine, but for thicker base layers, it's a bit tight, so I chose size M for more room.
[Excerpt from product manufacturer]
The outdoor wear and active insulation category has expanded rapidly in recent years.
Overseas brands have been the pioneers in product development. One of the active insulation filling materials is TEIJIN Octa®CPCP®, which is lightweight and has excellent heat retention.
STATIC chose to use a single layer of Octa®CPCP®, which is normally made with nylon for the lining. This is because brands that develop their products in high altitude, dry climates pack Octa®CPCP® in a shell material, which makes it heavy and difficult to layer in Japan, where it is often carried as thermal clothing.
Due to its special mesh structure, it is much lighter than fleece that is generally considered thin, weighing around 300g, and has an extremely high heat-to-weight ratio and is highly portable, making it useful all year round.
■Minimal fleece weighing just 110 g, with no zippers, hoods, or other unnecessary elements
■Mesh fabric is lightweight and highly breathable, yet has excellent heat retention
■ It is less likely to get stuffy even when worn while moving around, so you will need to put it on and take it off less often.
■ Lightweight and compact, it is useful not only for spring, autumn and winter, but also as a spare warmer for summer mountain hikes.
[Use of recycled materials]
Octa® fabric is made from two types of fibers: polyester wooly fiber and polyester hollow octopus fiber.
Of this, 53.6% of the woolly yarn has been replaced with recycled polyester (ECOPET®), reducing the environmental impact.
46.4% is regular polyester hollow octopus cross section yarn.
By using recycled polyester, compared to virgin polyester Octa®CPCP®, CO2 emissions during fabric manufacturing have been reduced by 23%. (*Calculation by Teijin Frontier Co., Ltd. CO2 emissions from raw materials (polymers) to fabric shipping)
[ What is Octa®CPCP®? ]
Octa®CPCP® is a mesh fleece material that combines irregular cross-section hollow polyester brushed fibers that act as heat-retaining material with the outer mesh material.
The polyester fabric is known for its excellent heat transfer properties. It is usually used as a lining, but in STATIC it is used as a standalone fleece.
Its features are:
■Lightweight: Approximately half the weight of polyester fibers of the same diameter
■Sweat-wicking and quick-drying: Lightweight, about half the weight of polyester fibers of the same diameter
■ Heat insulation: Dead air trapped in the space created by the hollow section and eight protrusions provides heat insulation.

[Environmental]
Environmental friendliness is an important factor when introducing STATIC products.
■Starting in Fall/Winter 2023, we will be the first in the industry to use 53% recycled materials
■Recycling reduces CO2 emissions during fabric manufacturing by 23% compared to virgin polyester OctaCPCP
■We use fabrics produced in factories in Japan that are OEKO-TEX® certified (※)
■The fabric dyeing process uses biomass (plant-derived) instead of petroleum, reducing CO2 emissions.
■Cutting waste generated during the manufacturing process is recycled into new fabric instead of being incinerated.
■Brand, size tag, quality label: 100% recycled polyester derived from PET bottles
*OEKO-TEX® certified
OEKO-TEX® is a globally recognized mark of safety in the textile business, certifying products that meet the world's highest standards of safety, covering over 350 types of hazardous substances, far exceeding Japanese safety standards, and certifying sustainable factories that take into consideration the burden on people and the environment involved in production.
[Manufacturer description]
STATIC is the first eco-friendly outdoor brand from Japan. The apparel industry is one of the most environmentally conscious industries in the world. Outdoor wear is no exception. In the midst of a changing natural environment due to global warming and other factors, we want to continue our outdoor activities, which are our life's work.
We pondered what we could do in this situation, and the answer we came up with was the environmentally conscious outdoor brand "STATIC."
