[Manager's comment]

STATIC, an environmentally friendly outdoor brand, and OWL MILS, a sunglasses brand with high-spec lenses from Sabae, a city famous for its eyewear, have collaborated! We're sure we're not the only buyers who heard about this in January and thought, "Yessssss!" While maintaining the functionality of Owl Mils, the collaboration with STATIC has significantly improved its environmental performance! Replacement parts are also available to ensure long-lasting use, so we're looking forward to using it outdoors as much as we can!

We're now in the season when UV rays are strongest. I want to wear sunglasses all the time, but with dark lenses I have to take them on and off... But MILSLENS lenses are bright, so I can wear them all the time in wooded areas, etc.

[Quote from manufacturer]

[STATIC × OWL MILS] SPECIAL MODEL "ATLAS"

This four-season model offers top quality yet is easy to wear on a daily basis. It retains its polarized and high-contrast functionality and features flash mirror lenses that are particularly resistant to glare on snowy mountains. It's also an environmentally friendly model, as any ATLAS glasses that are no longer in use due to damage or other reasons will be collected and recycled.

[LENS]

"MILS LENS FLASH MIRROR"

OWL MILS' first flash mirror lens, "MILS LENS FLASH MIRROR," is featured. The flash mirror reduces excess light, suppresses glare, and provides a clear field of vision. It also overcomes glare on snowy mountains. The backside is AR coated to reduce reflections on the lens, allowing for clearer vision. Although the visible light transmittance is about 6% lower than regular OwlMils lenses, it is still a bright lens, so it can be used without problems even in forest areas.

*Water-repellent coating on both sides for use on snowy surfaces. Keeps the lens surface dry.

[FRAME]

"Made in Japan frames made by a Sabae eyeglass manufacturer that specializes in recycled frames."

The four-curve frame is designed for everyday use. Manufactured by Japan's only manufacturer of recycled frames, they collect damaged or otherwise unused products, shred them into new frames, and recycle them into new frames. This horizontal recycling system, from sunglasses to sunglasses, sets a new standard for outdoor sunglasses.

In addition, to ensure that you can enjoy using your product for as long as possible, we will repair any damage as much as possible and also provide replacement parts.

[DESIGN]

" Versatile design "

The design is a casual, four-curve Boston-style frame. It's easy to wear off the field as well. The clear frame blends in well with the skin, reducing the typical sunglasses presence, making it easy to wear even for those who are hesitant to wear sunglasses.

[The reason for the collaboration]

This collaboration began when STATIC asked if it was possible to recycle polyester and wool scraps and old clothes into sunglasses.

Because Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture, a world-renowned eyewear production center, is located in Japan, we were able to directly consult with manufacturers with the technology and passion to create a recycling system, which was an advantage that allowed us to take advantage of our location. OWL MILS originally sold models that used recycled materials for some of the frames, and we have continued to explore systems for recycling and reusing sunglasses. This project with STATIC began several years ago with this shared vision.

In the field of eyeglasses and sunglasses, it is still considered difficult to recycle frames and lenses.

However, for this first model, we plan to collect and recycle damaged or unnecessary frames with the cooperation of the production factory. We will continue to work with STATIC in our environmentally friendly efforts.
